Letter from Charles D. Hall in Montgomery, Alabama, to his aunt, Helen Kirtland, probably in Wallingford, Connecticut.
In the letter he sends news of his brother Herbert's death (from diphtheria), and he explains that he has been in the Confederate army for several months. At the end is a note to his cousin, Elizabeth, to whom this and other letters were to be forwarded. A transcription is included.
