Summary:At the start of the Civil War, Hubert Dent was a 1st lieutenant of the Eufaula Rifles, which became Company B of the 1st Alabama Infantry; he was eventually promoted to captain and commanded Dent's Battery (formerly Robertson's Battery). In the letter Anna reminds her husband about the upcoming national day of prayer: "I hope the people all over the Confederacy may be likewise engaged - and I have faith to believe our prayers will be answered." She also expresses her desire for peace: "Oh I do long to see this war ended - I feel like nothing else...will seem like trouble to me again." A transcription is included.
