Diary kept by James H. McMath while serving as a captain in Company G of the 11th Alabama Infantry during the Civil War.
McMath was killed at Frazier's Farm on June 30, 1862, during the Seven Days' Battles. In the diary, written in 1861 and 1862, he discusses topics such as camp life (including marches and drills); illnesses affecting the soldiers; and troop movements throughout the South.
