Summary: | In the letter Parkin discusses the musical instruments Parker has sent for him to sell, and he thanks him for several issues of a EUTERPRIAD, a music magazine Parker publishes: "We have not many musical characters here, but those who have seen it think very highly of it, and I think you will have some subscribers to it from this place - you may depend on my endeavors to obtain all I can." He explains that his store has not been prosperous lately: "Owing to the bad credit of the planter, and the extreme scarcity of cash, business is very dull with us - those who have cotton do not like to sell it at the present price (12 cts) and will hold on to it as long as possible." He also mentions that his brother John is doing well in St. Stephens, where he is "snugly situated" and "really begins to have the ways of a 'family man.'"
