He mentions that no crops have been planted in the area because the Union troops have confiscated resources from the local citizens: "it looks like tha wont bee any thing made her at tall the yanks is taken every thing from the farmers sutch as Negros horsen purvision clothings it is afful to think a bout i hope it twill come to a clos soon."
