Summary:During the Civil War, Jones served in Company G of the 41st Alabama Infantry Regiment; he was killed in the Battle of Chickamauga on September 20, 1863. In the letter he discusses news of mutual acquaintances; upcoming campaigns and troop movements; and conditions back home on his farm. He also mentions that he was reprimanded recently and "put on duble dewty for helpen tote a box of things at the Redgt for Lieutinent White it twas the first time i was ever cros."
