Summary:During the Civil War, Riggs served in Company G of the 27th Mississippi Infantry Regiment. In the letter he discusses a religious revival that has been taking place in the camp, with nightly preaching for the last week. He also asks Martha to send his winter clothes and make him some pants. In a postscript he adds that his company has just received orders to prepare for a departure: "Supposition is we will goe [sic] to Rome Georgia but no one knows it to be so, I hope we will for I had much rather goe [sic] south than to goe [sic] any farther in tenn but still I am willing to goe [sic] whearever [sic] I am ordered."
