Description
Summary:In the letter the union representatives ask the congressman not to support the proposed prohibition amendment to the United States constitution: "We urge you to use your influence individually and collectively to prevent the ratification; to prevent the establishment of a precedent of consfication [sic] of property without compensation and due process of law; to prevent the forcing out of employment of almost One Million men, at a time when millions will be idle and have to seek employment; to prevent the curtailment of individual rights and liberties always held sacred by the Anglo-Saxon race." They stress the important role the citizens "in our line of industrial activity" played in the war, both as loyal supporters at home and as servicemen on the front.
