description During the Mexican-American War, Moore organized and led the Eutaw Rangers, a group of volunteers from Greene County, Alabama. In the letter he discusses the upcoming movement of his regiment: "We go next and will, beyond a doubt, I think, get off on tomorrow. All is excitement in Camp, at this time, & the boys seem in fine spirits. They are keen for a fight and I hope they will be gratified. We have become heartily tired out with the dull, monotonous life of a Camp and we all long for active service." He mentions that there has been a lot of sickness in the camp and that many men have been discharged because of their health. He ends by expressing love and concern for his wife, who is pregnant, and his two young sons.
