Summary:In this address, the fourth "Fireside Chat," President Roosevelt discusses New Deal programs that have been enacted to improve the country's economic situation. He mentions a recent rise in employment; the Civilian Conservation Corps; relief payments and credit available for homes and farms; the Reconstruction Finance Corporation; state and local public works projects; the Agricultural Adjustment Administration; the National Recovery Administration; federal assistance to banks; and the value of American currency. Roosevelt reminds his listeners that "[o]ur troubles will not be over tomorrow, but we are on our way and we are headed in the right direction."
