Description
Summary:Response by W. H. Ruffner to an article written by Dr. R. L. Dabney: "The Rev. R. L. Dabney, D.D., having published an article of extraordinary virulence against the education of the negro, and the school system generally, in the Planter and Farmer, of April, 1876, I replied in a series of four articles in the Richmond Dispatch and the Richmond Enquirer. Dr. Dabney rejoined in a series of four long articles in the same papers, to which I responded in the Enquirer, in a series of seven articles. My articles are given below, with omissions of some personal and other matters of temporary interest. The first series is addressed to the editor, the second to Dr. Dabney. - W. H. R."
