Letter from Michael Holmes to his brother, Ned.

At the beginning of the Civil War, Holmes enlisted with the Henry Grays, which became Company A of the 6th Alabama Volunteer Infantry. By the end of the war, he had been promoted to lieutenant. In the letter he urges his brother not to enlist in the army.
