Correspondence from the John Benjamin Fred Walters papers.
Most of the letters were written by Walters to his family in Attalla, Alabama, during World War I while he was serving in the 167th Regiment of the 42nd (Rainbow) Division. He was killed in action on May 4, 1918, while on patrol in France.
