Letters regarding a New Yorker article written by Nat Hentoff about Clifford and Virginia Durr in July 1960.
The article, "A Conversation in Alabama," appeared in the issue of The New Yorker for July 8, 1960. Though Hentoff attempted to mask their identifies, many Montgomerians recognized the Durrs, leaving them "exposed to the full weight of the wrath of the community."
