Description
Summary:They are standing at the fountain in front of Bibb Graves Hall on campus. One of them is holding a rainbow flag that reads, "Peace," and the other is wearing a rainbow "Coexist" flag. According to a Facebook post after the first Peace Walk in April 2015, organizer Amanda Dickey described the event as an introduction to the Safe Zone for All program at Troy: "Troy University's Safe Zone for All is an educational initiative that is designed to provide information on issues significant to all populations and foster the availability of safe spaces for at-risk individuals to receive support and understanding in lieu of bigotry and discrimination. To that end, Safe Zone for All training will provide education, support, and resources to faculty, staff, administrators, and students who are working together to foster an affirming and inclusive environment. This program was started as a student led initiative in hopes to foster availability of safe spaces for the advocacy and safety for all populations at risk."
