Description
Summary:The counter-demonstrator has a sign that reads, "My Rights Trump Your Religious Bigotry / #AtheistsForEquality / 'Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life. You should mind your own business' / 1 Thessalonians 4:11"; the participants' signs say, "We Support Biblical Marriage" and "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. / Prov. 14:34." At the rally, which was hosted by Sanctity of Marriage Alabama, counter-demonstrators interacted peacefully with participants. From the event's Facebook page: "Join believers from across Alabama at the Alabama State Capitol on June 6th at 3:00 pm, to send a united message to elected officials, the Supreme Court and the world: Alabama is for Marriage. As the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to rule on marriage in June, you have a duty to speak up while the very nature of marriage is being threatened. Devotion to Christ, love for your country and concern for your children demand immediate action."
