Summary: | They are holding signs that read, "Fight for a Love Worth More Than Goats"; "'If the world hate you, know that it hated me before it hated you' John 15:18"; "Jesus had 2 dads & turned out Fine"; "Please Do Not Pet or Feed the Gays"; and "My Gay Agenda / 6 AM Wake up / 7 AM Walk Dog / 8 AM Breakfast / 9 AM Go to Work / 5 PM Cook Dinner / 6 PM Fight for My Right to Marry My Boyfriend / 8 PM Relax with a Book / 9 PM Watch Modern Family / 10 PM Go to Bed." Despite federal court rulings legalizing same-sex marriage in early 2015, the Alabama Supreme Court ordered that probate judges stop issuing licenses to those couples on March 3 of that year. In response, Dothan citizens held two events on March 22: an "I Support Biblical Marriage Rally" at Ridgecrest Baptist Church and a counter-demonstration (organized by Equality Wiregrass) at the Dothan Civic Center. (The rally was initially set to take place at the civic center, too, and many of the counter-protestors reassembled outside the church later in the afternoon.)
