Summary: | The demonstrator is holding signs that read, "68% of Americans believe that same-sex couples should have the freedom to marry and I'm one of them" and "Straight But Not Narrow / I Support Equality." Despite federal court rulings legalizing same-sex marriage in early 2015, the Alabama Supreme Court ordered that probate judges stop issuing licenses to those couples on March 3 of that year. In response, Dothan citizens held two events on March 22: an "I Support Biblical Marriage Rally" at Ridgecrest Baptist Church and a counter-demonstration (organized by Equality Wiregrass) at the Dothan Civic Center. (The rally was initially set to take place at the civic center, too, and many of the counter-protestors reassembled outside the church later in the afternoon.)
