Description
Summary:Several of them are holding American or Alabama flags, and another has a navy blue flag that features a red cross with twelve stars on it. Among the visible signs are "God Sanctions Marriage / SPLC Should Not"; "Support Christian Marriage"; and ". . . Hear from Heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land / 2 Chronicles 7:14." The event, hosted by Sanctity of Marriage Alabama, was organized after the state began issuing same-sex marriage licenses on February 9, 2015. (From SOMA's Facebook page: "We stand with God's Word and the law of our land for marriage as defined by God - union between one man and one woman.") Members of the League of the South, a neo-Confederate group based in Killen, Alabama, were among the participants.
