Participants at the twentieth annual Vigil for Victims of Hate and Violence on the steps of the Capitol in Montgomery, Alabama.
The vigil is held each year to honor those who have been victims of violence due to their sexual orientation or gender identity. It was first observed in 1999, following the brutal murder Billy Jack Gaither of Sylacauga.
