Description
Summary:H. H. Holmes wrote the following note on the back of the photograph, addressing it to Thomas M. Owen, director of the Alabama Department of Archives and History: "Herewith a likeness of Thomas Galphin Holmes on horseback Tensaw Ala. a grandson of Dr. Thomas Galphin Holmes of Baldwin County whose name is so familiar to you. In the buggy sits Dr. M. Coghlan who is a grandson by marriage of Dr. Holmes. The house is antebellum, the home of Thomas Galphin Holmes II, my father, settled by Dr. Holmes in 1803.
