Harwell G. Davis.
Davis was an assistant attorney general of Alabama from 1916 to 1917 and from 1919 to 1921; he served as attorney general from 1921 to 1923 (completing the term of James Q. Smith) and from 1923 to 1927. He was president of Howard College, later Samford University, from 1939 until 1958.
