Description
Summary:"Birmingham, Alabama. An incident of the mine strike in Jefferson (Birmingham) County, is illustrated. Several thousand of the 21,000 miners who are striking here, organized a march on the Red Diamond mine. As the marchers reached this point, they were met by Lieut. Co. James A. Webb, who made a plea to the strikers to disperse, and with nothing stronger than words - even though a machine gun detachment had its guns trained on the marchers, unknown to them, the strikers broke ranks, and slowly dispersed."
