James N. Gilmer, C.S.A.
During the Civil War, Gilmer served as a quartermaster and commissary in the 1st Battalion of Hilliard's Legion. He was promoted to adjutant, and the 1st Battalion became part of the 60th Alabama Infantry. Ambrotype is 2 x 2.5 inches. Front cover is missing, and much of the design on the back...
