Plumed shako has crossed cannons, indicating artillery. Possibly this is John Gideon Harris (1834-1908), later Major of the 20th Ala. Infantry, while he was in the Greensboro Light Artillery Guards from January - April 1861. Maj. John G. Harris made a couple of donations to the department which are noted in the accession register,although no mention is made of a photograph. Ambrotype is 2.75 x 3.25 inches. |
