Summary:(No photograph in uniform is known to exist.) Commissioned as a colonel of the 3rd Virginia Infantry shortly after the war began. Promoted to brigadier general in April 1862. Major campaigns and battles include Williamsburg, Seven Pines, Seven Days', Second Manassas, Antietam, and Chancellorsville. Resigned his commission in August 1863 and served as a courier for a Confederate cavalry division until captured in August 1864. After the war, Pryor moved to New York City, where he practiced law.
