Summary:(Uniform indicates rank of major general.) Mexican War veteran, U.S. congressman, and governor of Missouri before the war. Appointed as a major general in the Missouri State Guard at the outbreak of war. After campaigning in Missouri and Arkansas, Price officially entered Confederate service in April 1862 as major general. Major campaigns and battles include Corinth, Iuka, Helena, the Red River campaign, and the Missouri raid.
