Summary:(In West Point cadet uniform.) Resigned from West Point in April 1861 and was commissioned as a first lieutenant in the Confederate Artillery shortly afterward. Promoted to major in the summer of 1862. Major campaigns and battles include First Manassas. Williamsburg, Gaines Mill, Second Manassas, Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Kelly's Ford.
