Summary:(Uniform indicates rank of brigadier general.) Mexican War veteran. Elected colonel of the 1st Tennessee Infantry after the start of the Civil War. Promoted to brigadier general in April 1862. Major campaigns and battles include Cheat Mountain, Shiloh, Perryville, Stones River, Chickamauga, Chattanooga (wounded), and the Atlanta campaign. After the war, Maney became a railroad president and politician, serving as a diplomat in several South American countries.
