Summary:(Uniform indicates rank of brigadier general). Mexican War veteran. Commissioned as a colonel in the 7th Louisiana Infantry at the outbreak of war. Promoted to brigadier general in July 1862 and major general in May 1865 (but not confirmed). Major campaigns and battles include First Manassas, the Shenandoah campaign (wounded), Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, the Wilderness, and Spotsylvania (wounded).
