Summary:(Uniform indicates rank of brigadier general.) Graduated from Princeton, 1844; Mexican War veteran and U.S. congressman. Elected as colonel of the 6th Georgia Infantry in May 1861 and promoted to brigadier general in September 1862. Major campaigns and battles include the Peninsular campaign, Seven Pines, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Olustee, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, and Petersburg. After the war, Colquitt returned to Georgia, where he served as governor and U.S. senator. Colquitt died March 1894 and is buried in Macon, Georgia. Sources: Boatner, Mark M.
