Summary: | (Uniform indicates rank of brigadier general.) Graduated from West Point, 1849; Seminole War veteran. Resigned his U.S. Army commission in 1855. Commissioned as a captain in the 1st Louisiana Heavy Artillery after the outbreak of war. After promoting through the grades, Moore was promoted to brigadier general in May 1862. Major campaigns and battles include Shiloh, Corinth, Vicksburg (captured and exchanged), and Chattanooga. Resigned his Confederate commission in February 1864 when he was assigned to Mobile.
