Summary:(In this heavily retouched photograph, the officer has the three stars of a Confederate colonel on his collar, but the shoulder straps of a brigadier general in the U.S. Army.) Probably Colonel Edwin Price, oldest son of General Sterling Price of Missouri. Served in the Army of the Trans-Mississippi. Captured in 1862 near Stockton, Missouri, while on a recruiting raid. He accepted a federal pardon and returned to farming for the duration of the war. Later became a brigadier general in the Missouri State Guard.
