Summary:Nininger, a native of Pennsylvania, was born in 1821 and married Catharine Kelker Ramsey in 1843. The couple had three children and raised their young family in Harrisburg before moving to Minnesota in 1856. He helped establish the town of Nininger in Dakota County but left for Saint Paul following the Panic of 1857. After the Civil War, Nininger moved to Lowndes County, Alabama, where he ran a cotton plantation and served in the Alabama House of Representatives from 1868 to 1872. He later moved back to Saint Paul and ran a real estate agency with his son.
