Summary:"This is Mobile's most handsome building; it occupies a space of 116 ft. x 160 feet. The construction work was begun August, 1914, and completed Sept., 1916. The building is two stories high and fireproof, the exterior is Alabama white marble, while the screen work, boxes etc., are bronze. There are very elaborate decorations throughout the building, the gold leaf decorations alone costing approximately $2,500.00. The heating system is the latest, thermostat controlled. The approximate cost of site, building, equipment and furnishings is $425,000.00." The postmark date on the back of this postcard is 1919.
