Barbour County Courthouse in Eufaula, Alabama, during the trial of an African American man accused of murdering Jack Hines and raping a white girl.
The courthouse was guarded by the Alabama National Guard during the trial. The defendant was found guilty and electrocuted at Kilby Prison a month later.
