General Benjamin F. Cheatham.
Cheatham served as a colonel in the Mexican-American War, and he was appointed major general of the Tennessee militia in 1853. In 1861 he became a brigadier general in the Confederate Army and promoted to major general in 1862. This image appears to be early Civil War or pre-war.
