Dr. Arthur McKinnon Brown.

Brown was the first African American surgeon in the U. S. Army. He was appointed by President McKinley to the post of asstistant surgeon with the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the 10th U.S. Calvary. He practiced medicine in Birmingham, Alabama for many years.
