James W. Moore and two other former soldiers at one of the last reunions of Confederate veterans in Alabama.
Moore enlisted with Morgan's Partisan Rangers, a unit of Wheeler's Cavalry, at age 13; because of his young age, he was sent home after a year of fighting. He attended the Virginia Military Institute after the war and graduated in 1873.
