Major Robert E. Noble of the U.S. Army Medical Corps.

Noble joined the army in 1900 and worked with General William Crawford Gorgas in the Panama Canal Zone. He served with the Allied Expeditionary Forces in France during World War I, and he was later Assistant Surgeon General of the U.S. Army.
