Portrait of Dr. Basil Manly.
Manly, a Baptist minister, served as the second president of the University of Alabama. He founded the Alabama Historical Society in 1850, and he was appointed the first chaplain to the Confederate States of America in 1861. This portrait hangs at the Alabama Department of Archives and History.
