Nelson Malden at the Southern Courier office in the Frank Leu Building in Montgomery, Alabama.

Malden was a local barber with strong ties to civil rights leaders, such as Martin Luther King, Jr. Malden and his wife, Dean, were supporters of the Courier, assisting with sales and contacts, and hosting staff members in their home.
