Dr. Leslie Wright, Major Harwell G. Davis, and Frank P. Samford at the Founder's Day program in Seibert Hall at Howard College in Birmingham, Alabama.
Davis had been president of the college from 1939 to 1958, and Wright was president 1958 to 1983. The school was renamed after Samford when it attained university status in 1965.
