Fairfield Steel Works employees striking in solidarity with the Communications Workers of America in Fairfield, Alabama.
The men have jugs of coffee and signs that read, "CIO #3662 on Strike" and "Local 3662 Conductor on Strike." The Fairfield plant was part of U.S. Steel's Tennessee Coal and Iron (TCI) Division. In 1955, CWA members staged a successful 72-day strike against Southern Bell.
