The two girls, Patricia Marcus, 127 Morris Ave., and Josephine A. Powell, 1410 Lomb Ave., were accompanied by their mothers and a Negro attorney, after being refused admittance Monday. Most of the students at West End did not enter the building and demonstrated against admission of the two Negroes on the school grounds for several hours. The student demonstrators remained obedient to police orders and opposed the integration of the school by shouting and chanting after they entered."
