Ron Scanlon, a master of Kung Fu San Soo states, "As this world grows more dangerous, the need to teach everyone, including people with physical limitations, how to defend themselves is extremely important." / Scanlon, a native of Los Angeles, California, will lead a self-defense class for people with disabilities this Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the Lakeshore Foundation Gymnasium. He is visiting Birmingham as part of a Lakeshore for Life program provided to people with physical disabilities by the Lakeshore Foundation. / Theis two-hour workshop will include a demonstration of basic self-defense techniques and individualized instruction on several fundamental skills. These skills include basic blocks and striking techniques from a seated position. Scanlon will also teach participants how to use canes, crutches, and wheelchairs for protection.
