Dedication of the Captain Jesse Ollie Wikle Jr. Veterans Memorial Park and patriotic event / Madison's Village Green / Madison's American Legion Post 229 will dedicate a landscaped memorial to honor the city's first World War II serviceman killed in action. American Legion Post 229 will dedicate phase one of the Veteran's Memorial Park and monument to WWII veterans on one end of the Village Green along Main Street. There will be much speaking and flag waving. The ceremony starts at 4 p.m. For a setup shot, you might want to arrive about 3:30 p.m. and find Bill Meiers, project manager. He will try to do everything for you but snap the camera. There will be some military hardware for background, a live bugler for foreground and several dignitaries for in between. The major event is the unveiling of the monument at 4:30. I suggest the Legion Post 229 commander (don't' know his name). You might throw in Lieutenant General Link (retired), keynote speaker. Or just go for the action and uniforms. Flagpoles are very difficult to photograph. I really don't know. / [Notes included] |
