Summary:This image was published in the Birmingham News on March 10, 1941, with the following caption: "Shelby Gambling House Raid - Three Shelby County deputies and a former deputy gave 40 or 50 fashionably groomed men and women from Birmingham an exciting few minutes early Sunday morning when they raided one of the Shelby County 'Gold Coast' gambling houses which flourish on the Birmingham trade. Above are scenes of the raid and some of the officers who staged it. . . . An outside view of the place raided is shown below. The casino, resembling a residence, is immediately beyond Forest Inn, about 11 miles south of Birmingham, on the Florida Short Route."
