They were among 21 Negroes picked up and charged with sitting in white sections of Birmingham City Transit Co. buses, in violation of Sections 1002 and 1413 of the General City Code. All 21 made bond and were released last night." (The paper identifies the photographer as Sally Samuel, but the negative is stored in a sleeve attributed to Ernest Hardin.) |
