Jones (above), wife of Birmingham's City Commission president, says of the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra: 'I regard the Birmingham Civic Symphony Orchestra as a civic asset of the highest value. It adds to our city's culture and spreads Birmingham's name and fame abroad as a community that, along with its industrial supremacy, appreciates the beauty of fine music.' Mrs. Jones is a member of Mrs. George Houston Davis' committee of 100 interested Birmingham citizens who are asking the city to make the artistic efforts of the symphony possible during the coming season."
